Jersey Mike's started as a single sandwich shop on the Jersey Shore way back in 1956, serving beachgoers from New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington. A 17-year-old employee, Peter Cancro, bought the place in 1972, maintaining the high quality and personalized service that had made it famous.
